How we can help
BOTOX AND WRINKLE REDUCTION
Straight talk about Botox
If you’re ready to see a younger face in the mirror, without those little lines, you’re ready for Botox – also known as “wrinkle reduction treatment.” Over the past decade, thousands of women and men have benefited from this remarkable treatment which erases signs of ageing quickly – in just an office procedure.
Botox: how does it work?
Botulinum Toxin is a permanent blocker of muscle movement. It binds irreversibly with the motor endplate cholinergic receptors. This blocks the synapse – which is where the nerve fibres and the muscle meet.
We will inject a very small amount under your skin. You must sit very still for this procedure, to ensure that nerves to the muscle are not affected.
We treat five areas:
-
Glabella (between eyes)
-
Forehead
-
Crows feet (to the side of eyes)
-
Axilla (armpit) for excessive sweating
-
Mouth for mouth corner elevation
This wrinkle reduction treatment is not really helpful for lines around the mouth. Dermal fillers are needed for that. We also don’t use Botox on sweaty hands, as there is a risk of weakening the small muscles of the hand, causing a weak grip.
The effects of Botox treatments do wear off after 3 to 6 months because new endplate receptors form, which are not blocked….yet! This is a very safe procedure, and you can get repeat treatments whenever you’re ready. If necessary, we can provide a free top-up after the first 10 to 14 days.
Botox can help prevent future lines, as the paralysed muscles will naturally weaken after several years of continued treatment. That means forehead lines are less likely to form.
Very safe, extensive experience
We inject Botox using a very small needle. We don’t use numbing cream, as it causes skin swelling and can alter the effect.
This procedure is very safe. An allergic reaction is incredibly rare, so this is very unlikely. There are almost no reported negative incidents with it, and it has been used literally billions of times.
There might be some bruising if the needle hits a small vein, but we try to avoid this. Very rarely do we have complications, including eyelid droop. If this does occur, it will wear off after 3 to 6 months, as the treatment wears off.
